Negotiations Update No. 6

 On Nov. 10,  our negotiations committee met with management (from 1 pm – 5 pm, our longest meeting yet). In order to ensure a smooth Health Care open enrollment for Unit 7 employees, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with management to reinforce our current tentative agreement on Health Insurance (no premium increases this year).

The Insurance Article in our contract stands firm and the only change will be the deletion of the "Same Sex Domestic Partner" words when the contract is ratified.

We stand firm on our wage proposals, on parental leave, on our Respectful Workplace language, and on tuition remission. Management has not changed their position on these issues either, their offer for the general wage increase stands at 0.25%.

Our next sessions with management are Monday, December 14 from 8 am - 12 noon, and again on Friday, December 18 from 8 am -12 noon.
